Purbeck Art Weeks Sketching Programme 2017

We are about half way through our PAW Draw programme for 2017, but there are still some attractive venues for you to attend, including any artists who have not yet registered their interest officially. Please feel free to turn up at any of the remaining events and see Roger Lockey at the start of the sketching session.

Events Details

Holme for Gardens – Wednesday 26th July – 10.30am – 2.30pm

An addition to our original programme, this venue has undergone major alterations to its layout this year, with the addition of many new areas of landscaped gardens, including a stone circle, shrubs and perennial borders, wild flower areas and a lavender walk. The café is also a useful facility!

Smedmore House – Tuesday 8th August – 10.30am – 2.30pm

An impressive house and extensive gardens, with sweeping views down to Kimmeridge Bay, make this a venue with multiple opportunities to create a variety of images.

Please note – this date is subject to confirmation by the estate. Members will be notified of any change of date if necessary.

Bestwall Allotments, Wareham – Sunday 3rd September – 10.30am – 2.30pm

Thanks to the kindness of Chris Davenport, we will have the opportunity to work in the fascinating surroundings of Bestwall allotments, and marvel at the range of produce being grown there!

We will meet beforehand at Chris’s house in North Street, before walking to the site.

Please note – Parking may be available at the nearby scout hut, if this can be arranged. Otherwise the nearest public car park is between North Street and Mill Lane. This is also the location of the nearest public toilets.

*Redcliffe Farm Campsite – Sunday 17th September – 10.30am – 2.30pm

NOW CANCELLED

Upton House – Wednesday 11th October – 10.30am – 2.30pm

A chance to record the autumnal colour in the grounds of this well-known venue, with many impressive specimen trees, walled garden, extensive parkland and trails leading to Poole Harbour. A fitting way to end our season of sketching days for 2017!
