PAW 2015 is getting closer!
A record number of artists are participating – with well over 100 painters, printmakers, photographers, glass workers, furniture and ceramics makers, jewellers, sculptors, and textile artists, showing their work. Use the free Festival Brochure to help you find your way to individual artist’s studios and to our collective exhibitions in Rollington Barn (near Corfe Castle) and the Fine Foundation Gallery, Durlston Castle (Swanage), and many more venues.
Are you interested in winning £250 of art of YOUR choice? You can find out what this is about in one of our Brochures. Or, pick up a PAW competition postcard from Rollington, Durlston, most venues and Tourist Offices in Wareham and Swanage.
Our local schools are involved – pupils are busy creating work inspired by this year’s theme ‘Out of the Depths’ in workshops led by professional artists. The results will be shown at Rollington Barn. Our Community Arts programme is creating a ceramic dinosaur emerging from the depths of Tilly Whim caves. The dinosaur will join the colourful community tree on Swanage seafront. And there will be flag displays and music in Domvs and Not Just Sundaes in Wareham.
There is also a wonderful array of events to enjoy after a busy day of looking at art. Some of our favourite performers such as the Fieri Consort, members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the Gabrieli Consort make a welcome return. They are joined by local experts giving illustrated talks on fossils, Helen Muspratt (a pioneering Swanage artists and photographer), Purbeck artists who experienced the Great War, Napoleon (as part of an evening at Smedmore House) and Beethoven (including a recital at Encombe House). We try and keep ticket prices as low as possible and encourage young people to join our concerts for just £2.
